The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. - John 10:10.
When we plant fruit trees, we expect them to produce fruit in a few years. We pamper them to make sure they are fruitful. Some of us may let up on the care we give the trees over the years. At first, the trees are full of fruit. It looks like they are doing well. But, as we slack off on our care, the trees begin to have diseases, or the fruit begins to be smaller. Then, the tree begins to bear less fruit each year.
Like the fruit tree, our spiritual life can either be fruitful or fruitless. When we are first saved, we have this need to read the Bible. If we've been in a good Word church, we know that staying in the Word helps us have a tool against the wiles of the devil. But, the enemy is out there to steal, kill, and destroy. If we aren't careful to stay in the Word, then, we get in trouble. Not studying the Word is like our not feeding the fruit tree. The Word begins to swivel up within us. When we really need it, we find we can't recall that Word which we need on that occasion. And, the longer we go without studying (feeding) the Word, the worse our situation gets. We become less and less fruitful.
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. - Romans 10:17.
Are you having problems? Do you find yourself wondering what is happening to you? Is the devil running rampant in your life? Have you stopped studying the WORD?
