PARTICIPATION IN THE BLOOD

Does the church receive forgiveness from sin during the Lord's Supper (communion)? Some say, yes. Some say, no. What does God's Word say?

New International Version ( 1 Cor 10:16) Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ?

Question: How does the church participate in the blood of Christ without receiving forgiveness from sin?

The New American Standard Version (1 Cor. 10:16) Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ?

Question: Can you share in the blood of Christ and not receive pardon from sins?

King James Version: ( 1 Cor. 10:16) The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not, the communion of the blood of Christ?

Question: Is it possible to commune with the blood of Christ apart from the benefits of the blood?

Bible in Basic English ( 1 Cor. 10:16) The cup of blessing which we take, does it not give us part in the blood of Christ?

Question: Is there anyway to have part in Christ's blood without receiving forgiveness?

Weymouth New Testament (1 Cor 10:16) The cup of blessing, which we bless, does it not mean a joint-participation in the blood of Christ?

Question: How does the church jointly-participate in the blood of Christ and not receive forgiveness?

If you are participating in a football game, does that mean you are just thinking or meditating about the game? No, you are playing the game.

If you are sharing in a picnic lunch, does that mean you are just thinking or meditating about lunch? No, you are partaking of the lunch.

Does ( 1 Cor. 10:16) imply that Christians have to wait until the Lord's Supper to have the blood of Christ applied. No, we as part of the Lord's church can ask for forgiveness at any time. ( 1 John 1:9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

There is more to the Lord's Supper than " DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME"
