God-Part VI The Trinity

To you it was shown, that you might know that the LORD Himself is God; there is none other besides Him. Deuteronomy 4:35 (NKJV)

We have been looking at a devotional series on God, and in the first 2-parts we looked at some of God's creations.  We looked at the intricacies and the absolute perfect details that clearly show that God exists.  In the third part, we looked at the two ways that God reveals Himself to mankind. The first way is through General Revelation, which included all those things within the universe that were created.  The second way is through Spiritual Revelation, which includes Gods written Word--The Bible.

In Part IV, we looked at God's Divine Attributes and Characteristics.  And in Part V of the study we looked at the Trinity of God.  In this study we looked at 5-scriptures that clearly pointed out that God was three-distinct-parts made up of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and yet they compose one entity.  We are told this in Deuteronomy 4:35 as well when it states, "The Lord Himself is God; there is none other besides Him."

So we have clearly seen scripture so far to point out that there is a triune relationship within the makeup of God.  We have looked at Scripture that points out that all three persons of God were present at one time, and yet there are those who would still say that God is but one person, and that the Holy Spirit and Jesus are not God, but manifestations or creations of God.  So let's take a look at what the Word of God says about these claims.

With regard to the Holy Spirit, we see clearly in Acts we see Scripture that points to the fact that when Ananias lied to the Holy Spirit, he was, in fact, lying to God.

But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God." Acts 5:3-4 (NKJV)

Q:    So what about Jesus Christ, who is He?
Q:    Is Jesus Christ God?

Well we have many scriptures that tell us exactly that.  In John chapter 1 it says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." (Jn. 1:1-4, 14).

So we can see that Jesus is God, and that He was there as God from the very beginning of time.  He was not created as everything else was created, He created everything.

So lets take a look at 11-scriptures that clearly state that Jesus is God.

1.    Jesus said, "I Am" (John 8:58; Ex. 3:14)
2.    Jesus gives eternal life "Father and I are One" (John 10:25-30)
3.    Thomas calls Jesus his "God" (John 20:28)
4.    Jesus forgives sin, as only God can (Luke 5:20-21)
5.    Jesus called "God" by God (Col. 1:16-17; Heb. 1:5-8)
6.    Paul calls Jesus "God" (Titus 2:13)
7.    Jesus, "Alpha and Omega" & "Beginning and End" (Rev. 1:8, 22:13)
8.    Jesus said worship only God (Matthew 4:10)
9.    Jesus accepts worship as God (Matthew 14:31-33)
10.    God says worship Jesus (Hebrews 1:6)
11.    Jesus said believe that "I Am" or you will die in your sins (Jn 8:24)

I find it interesting that so many people will say:

*    Jesus Christ was a great person
*    Jesus was a great Prophet like Mohammad or Buddha
*    Jesus was The Son of God

But they will deny that He is fully God as the scriptures clearly state.  Well either He is everything that His Father said He was, and that He said He was, or these people are right and that would make Jesus guilty of Blasphemy and a liar at best.  It cant be both.

I think I will stick with God's written Word, the Holy Bible, and decline to go along with a man who takes a scripture out of context and builds a false religion out of it.

Hey Christian, God made it simple for us--He sent down Jesus Christ who was God manifested in the flesh to tell us the truth.  He had His Holy Spirit guide the writings of the Holy Bible for us to capture this history, and to keep this written God-inspired-Word perfectly intact through every generation since its writing.

Don't settle for some new belief system that popped up over the last couple of hundred years.  I don't think that God chose to abandon what Jesus did on the cross, said in His Word, and shared with us to do, and started with a completely new revelation.  Remember the devil will allow 9-truths to get in one big sly lie.  Ask God to reveal what He wants you to know when reading His Word, the Holy Bible, and He will show you everything that you need to know.

STUDY QUESTION: What can we plainly see by looking at these scriptures within this devotional with regard to Jesus' claim to be God?

PERSONAL INVENTORY: Are you putting any other writing on the same level or above the written Word of God, the Holy Bible?

APPLICATION:  Read your Bible daily, and pray that God would open your eyes to all that He wants to show you.  Stay clear of any belief system developed by man that says that Jesus is less than God, or that you can have eternal life in any other way (Including works) apart from Jesus Christ.
