But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. - 2 Peter 3:18.
When our children are born, we begin a life of 'worry'. We worry if we will be a good parent, the kind of which God would approve. We worry about the growth of our child - if he/she is up to par with other children. Will they be intelligent human beings, or will they go through life, never bothering to educate themselves. Some may say, "I never did that", but, if you are a carrying parent, then you did that, whether you want to admit it or not.
As a parent, we want our child to be healthy, so we do the things we've been taught to keep our child healthy. We take the child to the doctor, when he/she gets sick to ward off any diseases. We feed our child healthy meals, in order for the child to grow up strong.
But, while we are feeding our child in the natural body, are we feeding our child in the spiritual realm? Are we living a life of godliness before our child? Are we teaching our child the Word, to help him/her go through life armed with the knowledge of God, in order to escape the enemy's clutches?
Each of us need to feed our hearts and minds daily with the Word of God. His Grace keeps, strengthens, and increases us in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles us to the exercise of the Christian virtues. Without renewing our minds daily, we become stagnant and ineffective. It's easier for the enemy to get a foot hold in our lives. In other words, when we don't entertain God and His Word daily, we have forgotten to 'lock the door' to the enemy!
