CAN GREEKS SAVE FAITH ONLY DOCTRINE

Faith only proponents in order to discount Peter's instructions on the day of Pentecost, in effect, claim only Greek scholars can understand Acts 2:38, Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that you sins may be forgiven. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

They assert that the Greek word "eis" in Acts 2:38 has been mistranslated and should be rendered, "because of," even though no translation can be found to support that claim. When confronted with the fallacy of their argument, they retort, "Well, it is understood to mean, BECAUSE OF." What honest, sincere person would say, "so that your sins may be forgiven," is understood to mean, because of?

The truth of the matter is even though studying original Greek might be helpful, God never intended that we understand Greek in order to comprehend the "Gospel Plan of Salvation." Peter speaking on the day of Pentecost spoke and all heard Peter and the rest of the apostles speaking in his own language. (Acts2:8) They did not have to understand original Greek, they just had to understand their own language. Just as today, to understand God's Word we have to understand the language the Bible is written in, whether it is English, French, German, etc.

Has God's Word been mistranslated? (1 Peter 1:25), But the word of the Lord stands forever." (Luke 21:33), Heaven and earth will pass away, but my word will never pass away.

If we cannot trust God's Word to be translated correctly, then we should toss the Bible in the trash, and believe whatever seems right to men.

There are some cults, and religious groups, who say only their "leaders" can understand God"s Word . Did not Jesus have a few fishermen disciples, I think just maybe God's Word was written so FISHERMEN could read and understand HIS WORD!
