Am I Saved? Im Not Sure!

&being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)

Often times I speak with people who doubt whether or not they are actually saved. They live in constant fear and worry, wondering if they are living a righteous enough life to warrant spending eternity with God. It is sad to hear the concern within their voices, because of this confusion. And I answer them with; Our God is not a God of confusion, but a God of peace. The apostle Paul spoke of this to those at the church of Corinth when instructing them on orderly public worship.

For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. 1Corinthians 14:33 (NKJV)

God has given us clear and concise scripture with regards to our salvation. We know through the written Word of God, our salvation is from grace, it is unmerited favor. We also know we cannot earn it by doing any works, because God doesnt want us boasting in our own efforts to attain our own salvation (See Rom 10:9, 10; Eph 2:8-9).

Q:Have you wondered about whether or not youre a Christian?

Here are some things you should know that would put your mind at ease.

1.A Christian is any person who has the Spirit of God (Holy Spirit) living in him or her.

If you have sincerely prayed unto God, trusting in Jesus as your Lord and Savior for salvation, then the Holy Spirit of God has come into you. Jesus made this promise before He was crucified; However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

Jesus Christ died for our sin, and in doing so, gave us an incredible gift called the Holy Spirit of God. This is the greatest gift possible, and the most neglected one as well among professing Christians. He has come to live in your heart, and to lead you in all understanding. He has come so you may know the truth, be able to discern right from wrong in every decision, and to give you the power needed to do everything proper.

And thats the way it was with us before Christ came. We were like children; we were slaves to the basic spiritual principles of this world. God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, Abba, Father. Galatians 4:3-4, 6 (NLT)

We should not base our belief of the Holy Spirit coming inside of us based on our feelings, but on the promises of Jesus. He said it! That settles it!

Here are some other things you will know when you are a true believer.

a)When the Holy Spirit is working within your life, you will believe Jesus is the Son of God, and that eternal life and salvation comes through Him.

I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. John 10:9 (NKJV)

b)When the Holy Spirit is working within your life, you will begin to act as Jesus directs, and the Holy Spirit leads.

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:5 (NKJV)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Galatians 5:22 (NKJV)

c)When the Holy Spirit is working within your life, you will find help in your daily problems and in your praying.

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:26-27 (NKJV)

d)When the Holy Spirit is working within your life, you will be empowered to serve God and do His will.

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. Acts 1:8 (NKJV)

e)When the Holy Spirit is working within your life, you will become part of Gods plan to build up His Church.

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; Ephesians 4:11-13 (NKJV)

Q: Is the Holy Spirit working in your life? Is He attempting to do these things within your life, only to be shut down in your free will? God will give each and every one of us these things daily once we have made the profession of belief. If you see these things in your life, then youre abiding in Christ. If you dont see them, then maybe its time to dedicate, or even rededicate your life unto the Lord.
