Sharing in Faith 101-Part III

Amazing Grace!

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)

Q:So why is Grace so amazing?
A:Because it is Unmerited Favor!

That simply means we have been given favor that was undeserved.

I think the song Amazing Grace, captures the essence of this message beautifully.

"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.
Twas Grace that taught...
my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear...
the hour I first believed.

We are saved by grace, through faith. It is Gods free gift of grace which we are ultimately saved by, and not by any effort or works of our own. This grace is like water, and the hose with which it flows to us is called faith. This faith is the medium or method which apprehends our salvation, and it is necessary to every believer.

Q:So how do we get this faith? Do we earn it by believing real hard?
A:No! Faith is not something a person can produce;

Faith is simply a trustful response that is itself evoked, by the Holy Spirit. Its given to us by the Holy Spirit

Lest faith should be in any way misinterpreted as our contributing in any way to our own salvation,
It, too, is a free gift from God (See Eph 2:9). And the reason we are given this gift, is because God didnt want man boasting he had done something to earn his salvations. The entire process is a free gift from God. All that is required is for man to exercise his free will, and simply receive the gift.

So as believers, we owe our entire salvation entirely to the undeserved favor of God.

For those who find it hard to be given something of great worth, they might justify the gift based on their living a good life, or being a good person, but we can see from Scripture, Nothing good dwells in our flesh!
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. Romans 7:18 (NKJV)

The entire process of salvation comes from nothing that we have done. So we will spend eternity with God, singing praises to Him forever and ever. And as the lyrics of the song Amazing Grace, so eloquently state; When we've been here ten thousand years&bright shining as the sun. We've no less days to sing God's praise&then when we've first begun.

Im looking forward to that day&.How about you?
